Ber Analysis of a Packet-based High-speed Otdm System Employing All Optical Routers

چکیده
In an optical time-division multiplexed (OTDM) network with all-optical routers, system performance, that is, the bit-error rate (BER), is limited by a number of additional noise sources due to the router. In this paper, we investigate the noise contribution due to the crosstalk and relative intensity noise (RIN) within the router, and derive an expression for the BER. We also show that the power penalty is highly dependent on the router crosstalk and RIN. Power penalty of less than 1.5 dB is achievable when the crosstalk and RIN are 20 dB and 10 , respectively. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. High-speed All- Optical Time Division Multiplexed Node
In future high-speed self-routing photonic networks based on all-optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) it is highly desirable to carry out packet switching, clock recovery and demultplexing in the optical domain in order to avoid the bottleneck due to the optoelectronics conversion. In this paper we propose a self-routing OTDM node structure composed of an all-optical router and demultiplex...
متن کاملDesign of Arrayed Waveguide Grating based Optical Switch for High Speed Optical Networks
This paper demonstrates the design of an Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based optical switch. In the design both physical and network layer analysis is performed. The physical layer power and noise analysis is done to obtain Bit Error Rate (BER). This has been found that at the higher bit rates, BER is not affected with number of buffer modules. Network layer analysis is done to obtain perfor...

For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

Optical regeneration, high-speed synchronisation, OTDM packet network, timing jitter, clock recovery Key Results: Results show serious limitations in the minimum level of jitter tolerable by high-speed regeneration. For 40Gbit/s OTDM (Optical Time Division Multiplexing) transmission the tolerable level of jitter to maintain error-free transmission, is 1.5ps for synchronous regeneration and 1ps ...
